Rosjurconsulting international reproductive law firm issued a statement warning against implementing surrogacy programs in Cambodia.
There is no legal framework for surrogacy in the country. Transfer of parental rights within a surrogacy program might be considered as a crime stipulated by art. 327, 330-332 of the Criminal code of Cambodia.
The attitude of authorities considering that this practice harms Cambodia’s image abroad gives clear signs that commercial surrogacy for foreigners would be soon prohibited, as it already happened in Thailand and Nepal.
Do not begin a surrogacy process where any part of the process, including the birth of the child, will occur in Cambodia – the statement signed by Mr. Konstantin Svitnev, Rosjurconsulting CEO, says.
