A new discovery by Japanese scientists will potentially allow gay men to produce their own egg cells from their stem cells, without a female donor.

In contrast to surrogacy, the child will be born with the DNA of both gay parents, reports The Guardian.

The most amazing part of this discovery is that the egg cells produced using bioengineering were fertilized in vitro with sperm also developed from stem cells and then implanted into mice. The pregnancy resulted in the birth of healthy mousekins, and so far we can say the trials have been finished successfully.

The experiment used induced pluripotent stem cells, which can be obtained from human skin cells.
