Albert Rivera, the leader of the Spanish political party Ciudadanos (Citizens), stubbornly continues to defend the civic position of his companions and to protect surrogacy.
“I wonder if there is something more sacred than a woman helping another become a mother,” he said about this. And in this sense, he is categorically against derogatory statements about surrogacy. For him, this is “not a surrogate, because there is a higher manifestation of humanity in it,” and you cannot speak of women as “pregnant bellies,” because “first of all they are women.”
At a meeting with members of other parties, the leader of the Orange (the unofficial name of the party Ciudadanos) spoke of surrogacy as one of the most important subjects of his concern, and that this issue would certainly be discussed in Congress in February of this year. Rivera believes that surrogacy is the “right of the 21st century”.
In fact, this issue has become one of the most important policy statements of the Cs Party (Ciudadanos). The standards proposed by the “Oranges” establish material compensation for a pregnant woman aged at least 25 years old and who has already become a mother.
The politician is confident that his bill is the embodiment of “guarantees, prudence and altruism.” According to the leader of the “oranges”, “Cs”, “as a party of open dialogue, having principles and beliefs, sharing common civil values and carrying reforms, it should become for Spaniards “ the common home of constitutionalism ”.
